Copyright & Intellectual Property
Last updated: 7 September 2026
This website presents the work, professional perspectives and original materials of Messrs. Koo Jia Hung. We reserve all rights in the content and design that we own, and in material we are authorised to use, subject to the permissions below.
Original content and ownership
Unless otherwise identified, the firm owns the copyright in its original articles, commentary, analysis and other original material created for and owned by the firm. This includes our original wording, selection and arrangement of material, examples, explanations, checklists and practical guidance. Third-party material remains subject to its owners’ rights.
Our analysis, practical know-how and recommended next steps
Our articles reflect the firm’s professional judgment, experience and practical know-how. In particular, our views on decided cases, interpretation and analysis, general guidance, practical takeaways and recommendations about what a reader may consider doing next form part of our original editorial work. We reserve copyright in the original written expression, selection and presentation of that work. Publication does not grant permission to copy or repackage protected material as another person’s article, client advisory, training material or commercial content.
Website design, style and creative assets
We reserve the rights we hold in the website’s original visual design and creative expression, including its original selection and arrangement of page elements, graphics, illustrations, article artwork, original logo artwork, animations, audiovisual sequences and software code. Except where permitted by this notice, an applicable licence or law, these protected elements must not be copied, adapted or reused to create another website, brand presentation or product without written permission. This does not claim exclusive ownership of a general style, colour palette, design idea, standard layout or website function. Licensed fonts, stock media, software libraries and other third-party assets retain their respective rights and licence terms.
What is not claimed
Readers may learn from our articles and consider the practical points they raise. This does not give us exclusive ownership of underlying facts, ideas, legal principles or methods, or prevent independently written analysis of the same subject. Publicly shared know-how is not treated as confidential merely because this notice calls it know-how. Our guidance is general information; readers should obtain advice on their own circumstances before acting, as explained in our Disclaimer.
Third-party and AI-assisted material
Stock footage, licensed photographs, fonts, software libraries, platform components and other third-party material remain subject to their owners’ rights and applicable licences, including open-source licences. Our permission cannot extend beyond rights we hold. Some material may be prepared or refined using AI tools. We do not assert that every AI-generated element necessarily attracts copyright or exclusive rights. Any rights claimed depend on applicable law, human contributions and relevant terms; third-party rights remain unaffected.
Reading, linking and sharing
You may read the website, share links to its public pages, and use the sharing features we provide. To the extent we control the necessary rights, we also permit reasonable downloading or printing of articles for personal, non-commercial reference, retaining the author, source and copyright notices. Brief, accurately attributed quotations with a link to the original are permitted within a genuine discussion or reference and must not substitute for the article. These permissions do not authorise misleading endorsement, removal of attribution, or reuse of third-party material beyond its licence.
Uses requiring permission
Except as permitted above, by another applicable licence or by law, obtain written permission before republishing a whole article or a substantial part of protected material, distributing copies, commercially reusing it, or adapting or translating it. This includes reproducing protected artwork, code or design elements in another website or product. Credit alone does not replace permission where permission is legally required. The firm’s name and logo must not be used to falsely imply authorship, affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. No trademark registration is asserted by this notice.
Fair dealing and other lawful uses
Nothing in this notice limits fair dealing, permitted quotations, accessibility exceptions, public-domain uses or other lawful uses. Attribution should be retained where required. Giving credit does not, by itself, authorise copying or republication where permission is needed.
Search access and technical features
Ordinary search indexing and short attributed discovery snippets linking to our pages are permitted to the extent we control the relevant rights. This is not a general licence for bulk republication, commercial datasets or model training where permission is required by law. Technical access, a download facility or the absence of copy restrictions does not grant additional rights. Copy or right-click restrictions, where used, are only deterrents; they do not prevent all copying or determine infringement. We do not claim exclusive ownership of the idea of a website feature.
Permissions and infringement reports
Email jh@koojiahung.com.my with the page or material concerned, the proposed use, format, audience and commercial context. For an infringement concern, identify the work, the relevant website locations, the rights you claim, your basis for acting and your contact details, with supporting information where available. Please do not send unnecessary confidential or sensitive information. We will assess the information and may seek clarification or correct, credit, restrict or remove material as appropriate. We reserve lawful remedies for established infringement, subject to evidence, applicable defences and court discretion; this notice does not impose automatic penalties.
